My work
Thirteen years building for the web, from agency projects to enterprise platforms.
How I got here
I've always been the one people ask about computers, so building for the web was never much of a leap.
I studied Web Systems Development at Glasgow Caledonian and started as a graduate developer in 2013. I spent most of the years since in agencies, and loved it: creative people, lots of different projects, and a real buzz about making something look and feel right.
These days I'm at Scottish Enterprise, where the projects are bigger and last a lot longer. So the focus moves to standards, code reviews, and building things that still make sense years later. Both have shaped how I work.
Outside the day job I've been getting into infrastructure as code with Terraform, automated testing, and working alongside AI tools. This site is where I try most of it out.

How I work
I like to take the lead, ask plenty of questions early, and build things with the people around me.
Before I write any code, I'll be asking whoever's handing over the work, whether that's the designer, the client or the project manager, plenty of questions: what it's for, who's using it, and what happens at the edges. Getting that right early saves a lot of rework later.
I enjoy being part of a team and I'm happy to lead a piece of work from the first conversation through to release. Along the way I'm always up for talking through a decision, reviewing someone else's code, or getting a second pair of eyes on mine.
